Future Page Additions
Periodically, as the company increases or new ideas are brought forth, new pages are going to become necessary. The site has been designed with this in mind, and is capable of major modifications without having to alter any of the foundational characteristics, so long as the following thoughts are kept in mind:

  • All new pages should begin by saving template.html to the new file name, then editing this new file. In so doing, the designer can be sure the new page will match all previous pages.
  • Modifications which require the addition of a new menu option are a little more in-depth:
    • First, begin by modifying menu.html using ImageStyler (if available) to load menu.ist and add the new button(s).
    • Second, create a new text menu choice to correlate with the menu bar. Be sure to follow the procedures described below when creating these new images.
    • Finally, update all existing pages to reflect the new changes, including template.html to ensure future pages will be formatted the same way.

A useful way of keeping track of future changes is through the utilization of a Site Version Number. Simple modifications can be reflected by an increment in the decimal number, whereas major modifications (be it page layout, image reconstruction, or change of ownership from one webmaster to another) should be shown through an entire version upgrade to a new whole number.

Image Map
All images have been created in Adobe(R) ImageStyler(TM) v1.0. As ImageStyler merely exports the files it creates to ".gif" or ".jpg" the original ".ist" files are contained in the Graphics directory. Any graphics editor can be used, but only ImageStyler can open the ".ist" files or take advantage of the suggestions offered below. The following files and conventions should be maintained throughout future pages:

  • The title should appear in the upper left hand corner of each page.
    • Font - Univers Condensed
    • Size - 20 for top text, 15 for bottom text (if applicable)
    • Special - A 1 x 300 pixel line should run under and extend beyond the top text.
    • Naming - "name".gif where "name" refers to the name of the page.
    • Suggestions - title bar.ist is the ImageStyler version of the above Webmaster title bar. Opening this file and double-clicking on the text will allow you to change the text without modifying the font, size or location. When finished with modifications, export as normal.
  • At the bottom of each page, a "text" bar is provided for those with low-band access. Each of the menu selections offered from menu.html (Frame 2) should be choices here, as well.
    • Font - Univers Condensed
    • Size - 11. Text must be in all caps to preserve spacing.
    • Special - Two files must be created for each page, one for non-selected pages (colored black), and one for the selected page (colored AMT-Maroon, R173 G0 B59). All black-colored names should link to their corresponding pages, while no AMT-Maroon names will provide links (other than the hidden company link to access this page).
    • Naming - t_"name"<_s>.gif where "name" refers to the name of the page and the optional "_s" indicates the AMT-Maroon text.
    • Suggestions - select bar.ist will bring up a nicely formatted ImageStyler version of these separate gifs. To add new titles, duplicate an existing black word and double-click to modify the text. Export using the naming conventions above, then change the color to AMT-Maroon and export again appending the optional "_s" to the name.
  • Sometimes it is necessary to place headings within a page to separate the text. When aesthetics allow, these should be created as images rather than regular text to conform with the page format.
    • Font - Univers Condensed
    • Size - 15
    • Naming - h_"name".gif where "name" is the name of the page.
    • Suggestions - By double-clicking on the bottom text of title bar.ist, you can modify the text to read anything you want. Export only this bottom text by moving it away from the horizontal line and exporting selection.
